Saturday June, 19th is International Picnic Day! Sometimes there is nothing better than getting together with friends and family to eat delicious food and enjoy the outdoors. Picnics call for planning, though! We want to make sure you're ready to go with tasty must-haves and stylish necessities to make sure you stay cute, cool, and satisfied the entire day!

First off, lets address the most important factor: the food. Picnic food has to be a balance between delicious and easily portable. Aside from the classic sandwiches and chip dips, we've added a few of our favorite recipes of items that will definitely be on our picnic list this year!

1. Cheese Board:

Grab at least three of your favorite cheeses paired with delicious summer berries and fresh Savannah Bee Company honey! Don't forget crispy crackers, almonds, and a savory addition like spicy mustard or pickles.

2. Fresh layered mason jar salad:

Blogger, A Beautiful Mess, shows us how to pack convenient and smart! We love this healthy idea for smaller picnics where you may not have as many side dishes or main courses to choose from! Layer your favorite salad toppings all together in an eco-friendly re-usable mason jar. Start with your tastiest dressing as the base and layer your chunky hardy veggies, legumes, and sturdy grains next. These things can handle sitting in the dressing for an extended period of time. Next add your protein, cheese, and softer veggies such as spinach, fruit, and avocado. When you're ready to enjoy, simply give it a little shake and pour it onto your plate or bowl!

 3) Fresh Homemade Basil Lemonade

Believe it or not lemonade is SO easy to make! With just three main ingredients, sprucing up this favorite summer drink takes little to no effort. We love the idea of a delicious refreshing basil lemonade, but experiment with other add-ins such as mint, raspberries, ginger, or even just adding sparkling water! Find this easy recipe below and get to sippin'!

FRESH BASIL LEMONADE

1 cup sugar

1 cup fresh lemon juice

6 cups water

ice

1/2 cup (packed) fresh chopped basil

Stir all ingredients together and chill. (Tip: Use warm to hot water to make sure sugar is fully dissolved.)

Food isn't the only picnic necessity, there is a plethora of other items to bring along! Aside from being practical, a girl can't help but want to look super cute especially when attending a picnic where you could run into your most recent crush! The key to mastering typical picnic attire is to take into account what kind of activities you'll be participating in. Will there be Frisbee? Bocce ball? Soccer? In those cases, your favorite summer dress should probably sit this one out. Try our Freelance Top instead, its loose, airy, and right on trend with its cutouts around the neckline. Pair it with white shorts and flat sandals

You'll also want to make sure you pack plenty of sun shade, a cute hate and sunglasses are a must! In the midst of planning the smorgasbord and cute outfit, don't let basic must-haves slip off your radar: an oversized blanket, utensils, a speaker to play fun music and lawn games such as bocce ball or bags!
